Customer Review: Disappointed
I had high hopes for this phone, but it is terribly disappointing. It gets spotty reception even in the house when not in the same room as the base unit, and it is all but unusable in the yard. I have moved the base to several different locations in the house and done everything they recommend, but no change.
Customer Review: Love Panasonics
I’ve had panasonic phones for years, and they have always perform well for me. My only reason in replacing my old phone was to upgrade to a four extensions vs. my old two. In fact I gave my sister my old phone, and it is working for her as we speak. I use VoIP, and this system works well, I get reception all over my house (over 2000 ft) even with the base tucked in the corner office, and I can walk into the back yard with no issues. I use a simple cheap headset, and my calls are quiet clear. I do miss the belt clip while walking around, but these hand sets are smaller than my old one, so it’s not really an issue. For the price, great deal, this will last a long time.

Customer Review: Grandma can see the phone.
I purchased this product for my 89 yr old Grandmother. She was so upset that she couldn’t see the numbers on her phone and was afraid if my Grandfather fell she wouldn’t be able to call 911. This phone solved the problem. It has a programmable 911 spot which is perfect, and the numbers are big enough that even though she’s totally blind in one eye and has very limited vision in the other, she’s able to comfortably dial a number.

I purchased this product for my wife’s aunt who has severe vision problems. This phone has made it where she no longer needs to rely on someone else to dial the phone for her! I would highly recommend this product.

Customer Review: A little bit louder now
I purchased the Clarity w1000 to overcome the noise from a room air conditioner. It usually worked adequately for this task. However, sometimes or perhaps often a little more volume would have been useful. On my phone line, increased volume quickly turns into quite a bit of noise and hiss. This is more annoying than straining to hear the caller. My Panasonic KX-TG 5421 cordless phone with voice enhancer turns out to work better than the w1000. I probably should have returned the w1000.
Customer Review: unbelievable
Try to find a corded phone is difficult these days. I actually found the Plantronics / Walker W1000 phone at WalMart in Rice Lake, WI (715-234-6990) for $34.88. Brought it home, plugged it in and tried it out. Seems to work great. This version of the product is documented as offering up to 26dB amplification. Elsewhere on amazon i found the W1000 with 33dB amplification, so perhaps I purchased a ‘remaindered’ version. I could not find the W1000 on the WalMart website.

Customer Review: Good But Some Disappointments
Nicely styled. Fairly easy to use except for two top manu keys which are hard to press without hitting the ones beneath them. This is the third 5.8 I’ve owned and has slightly less range than either of the other two (AT&T & Panasonic). Caller ID doesn’t sync with phone book to identify caller. “Private” phonebook being default is a pain if you want phonebook to be shared. Only 10 characters allowed for phonebook entries. Busy screen. Still, overall OK, with lower range being biggest disappointment.

I’ve had an older model for over 8yrs, which I thought went bad. So I bought these new models. Once I got them setup properly, I haven’t had a problem since. The directions are a little sketchy setting up the main base & the ans. machine (TAKE NOTE: Two Separate Devices! Each Need To Be Set Up To Keep Proper Date & Time!). All the features work great! Remote ans. machine access is my favorite. Then I replaced the battery on my old Motorola cordless & that’s up & running. Great products!!

Customer Review: Nice to look at but does it work?
I purchased this phone because it’s rare to find a wall-mountable telephone that has a base actually flush with the wall, not protruding. However, I never determined how well it worked because I had a lot of difficulty during the set-up process with registering the phones and finally called Customer Service. The first person told me to unplug everything (phone and electric cord) and wait 15 minutes. When that didn’t work, I called Customer Service again and learned I needed to also unplug the batteries. I called Customer Service a third time when I couldn’t remove the back (cover) of the phones to get at the batteries. There is a button on the bottom of the phone that you’re required to press simultaneously with pushing the back off “as hard as you can.” Why should it be so difficult to get at batteries? This phone is pretty but poorly designed. Looks get you only so far, even with telephones.

We’ve been using this product for about 6 months now with no problems.
The stainless steel finish is actually a metallic colored plastic.
The volume turns up quite loud. I keep the volume set a 1 and my husband puts it up to 4, so it’s it’s good for the whole family.
The ringer can be heard by all as well and the answering machine playback is clear sounding.

Customer Review: Major Design Flaws
The buttons are huge, but if you press them anywhere but in the exact center they don’t work. Talk about frustrating! Also, the other reviewer was dead-on: sound quality is terrible. Plus, the answering machine cuts off phone messages after ten seconds.
Customer Review: Don’t believe the hype about this phone!
I used one of these for about 2 years before a lightning strike finally gave it a death blow. The phone, as designed, has serious deficiencies. As claimed, you can dial up the volume, but it is not clearer as advertised. Think in terms of a very cheap speaker turned up to high volume. The louder it is the more difficult it is to understand.
The answering macine barely worked when it was new. Messages were often garbled to the point of not being understandable. A glaring design flaw is that there is no way to pick up your calls from a remote location. You can’t call in and get your messages. You have to go to where the phone is located to hear the messages. This falls into the realm of, “what were they thinking,’ when they designed the answering system. What if you’re 500 miles away and want to call in for your messages?
It has large buttons, which is a good thing, however, they are more difficult to push down than other phones.
Look elsewhere for a phone and anwsering system. This phone has a high price for what is really a very cheaply built product. Amazon is to be commended for not having this product available (as of this writing). I expect that most would be returned.
