This phone cannot be connected directly to an outside phone line, but must be connected to a Panasonic digital or hybrid PBX system. It features a speaker-phone, automatic redialing, call conferencing and excellent sound quality. It can be used on a desk or mounted on a wall. Twelve buttons with lights can be custom programmed, so they connect to outside lines or to other extensions and indicate whether such connections are busy. A standard 4-wire (2 pair) CAT3 connection between this phone and the PBX is all that is necessary to enable all of its features.

Customer Review: Misleading
The phone is labeled as Telephone and Accessory Handset but that is not what is on the box. It says very clearly “does not work independently” and it does not say that on product description.
I have a regular GE 29267GE3-B and that is why I chose GE over Panasonic. Sadly I have to return it because I only need one phone and this is a phone to buy if you already have the base station and what to add another handset.

Ten speed dial entries allow you to quickly dial the most frequently used numbers, while three one-touch memory buttons are provided for important numbers, such as emergency medical or fire assistance.
The illuminated keypad makes dialing in poorly lit environments a snap. (This feature requires four AA batteries, which are not included.) Customer Review: Poor Quality, Feedback, Snap Crackle Pop
Hey - I purchased this for my 71 year old Mom, and it’s just terrible. I do not know which importer now has the AT&T license to make phones after the Southwestern Bell purchase of it’s former Mother - i.e. Ma Bell AT&T but this thing rates below the cheapie Conairs of the past. I am sure she did not keep the packing material or the reciept, so we are going to eat this one and move on to something better. If this is a VTECH phone (used to have the rights to the AT&T brand) then shame on you guys.
Can you tell I used to be in this industry? Get your act together guys, get the QC manager down to the plant in China.

the phone is very well made, has a nice appearance, useful features, and very good sound quality, I like the phone and am considering getting one for myself…
